Who we are
Catawba Yacht Club was organized in 1939 to promote boating on the river. The club is family oriented and members sail, row, power boat and enjoy the social events.
CYC is home to competitive sailing on Lake Wylie. We offer both one-design and Portsmouth fleet racing, and the club is home to three different national champions in the MC and Wayfarer classes. Whatever you sail, we have a fleet for you.
Racing is the heart of the program, but the club also runs cruising and pleasure sailing events, a Thursday Retiree Series, and Learn to Sail clinics that bring new sailors onto the water every summer.
Every major holiday features a different themed party using our classic clubhouse and lakeside picnic area. Great food, fellowship and entertainment are our mantra. Sailing and rowing members share the maintenance tasks, the drinks, the food and a common interest in racing on the lake.

Sailing membership runs through Catawba Yacht Club. See membership details and the club rules. Non-members are welcome to race for a nominal series fee.
Wet slips on Lake Wylie
CYC members keep boats in wet slips right at the club, so race day is as simple as walking down the dock, dropping the cover and casting off.
